I can support you in your understanding of your situation and the choices that may be open to you. My approach is collaborative. We can work together towards what it is you would like from counselling. This is different for everyone. The experience of counselling and psychotherapy can be influenced by the life stage that you are at. I adapt to suit what the priority is for you right now.
About me and my practice
I have a particular interest in supporting clients with personal development, workplace difficulties, coping with loss, managing stress, addiction and recovering from traumatic experiences.
I have worked as a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist for 20 years in private practice, the public sector, and private sector. In 2012, I qualified as a Clinical Supervisor with the Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy.
I have also completed British Psychological Society approved Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Training and Mindfulness Teacher Training (level 1) with the Mindfulness Association.
In recent years, I have worked as an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, both in-person and online. I am currently in the process of achieving my European Practitioner Accreditation with EMDR Ireland.
(Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in England (NICE) and the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.)
I practised in the UK for eleven years and, during that time, I led two counselling services in the private sector, including setting up and leading on a variety of projects and managing large teams of clinicians. In addition, I have worked as a counsellor, psychotherapist, and supervisor for eight years in university settings in both the UK and Ireland.
I work as a relational therapist, as I believe that no matter what clinical approach that I offer to you, the therapeutic relationship that develops between us is central to the work that we do together. My clinical approach is informed by insights from humanistic, psychodynamic and body psychotherapy. I keep up to date on research and new developments in the field of counselling and psychotherapy through ongoing study, attending conferences and engaging in continual professional development
I am accredited with IACP, BACP, and am a member of EMDR Ireland.

Initial Consultation
Your preliminary consultation will be by phone and we can briefly discuss what you would like support with. This may also help you to decide whether you would like to take the next step and book an initial session.
This first session consists of a comprehensive collaborative assessment that will help decide what your options are. If I believe that another service or approach may meet your more immediate needs, I will discuss this with you. However if this is the case, I will provide you with recommendations, resources and information to suit your specific circumstances.
If we do agree to work together I will discuss with you what this will involve and the approach that I believe would be most helpful.
